Explore Amberg
Lovable Bavaria

Among the best preserved medieval towns in Europe, the livable and lovable town of Amberg is a small modern-day Bavarian town with a great sense of tradition, set against a historical backdrop. There are myriad fountains and beer gardens, churches and monasteries to see and marvel at in what is considered the secret capital of the upper Palatinate.

The exact location

Nuremberg. Weiden. Regensburg: all nearby! The hotel itself is located right between the horticultural showgrounds, the Amberg Congress Centrum and the Kurfürstenbad Amberg. Those interested in culture will be delighted: just a few steps and you're right in the historic old town with its picturesque squares and lanes.

  • Easter cave

Embark on a discovery tour through the Easter cave. The activity of the calcareous water, which has lasted for thousands of years, has not only created cavities, but also wonderful stalactite formations and sintered water basins that want to be seen and admired.

  • SEE AMBERG

The historic old town centre, called the "Amberg egg" on account of its shape, is protected by a well-preserved city wall. Motor traffic is also barred from entering. Must-see attractions include the Amberg Stadtbrille (a medieval bridge), the Kurfürstliche Schloss, (Elector's castle), the Alte Veste (an old manor house) and the Amberg gates.

  • ENJOY AMBERG

In the historic atmosphere of Amberg, strolling about and enjoying all it has to offer is an exceptional experience. There is a lot to see but nothing is very far apart. After strolling round the shops, it is tempting to linger in one of the friendly cafes, taverns, bistros and restaurants in the pedestrian area and the surrounding alleyways.

  • CULTURAL AMBERG

Visitors can choose from a wide-ranging array of cultural offerings including many events. Guided tours of the town focusing on a variety of subjects and adventure tours are available throughout the year. There are fascinating things to learn at the Air Museum and the City Museum. The City Theatre provides excellent evening entertainment.

  • EVENTFUL AMBERG

See Amberg from above: The Mariahilf Mountain is the site of the largest mountain pilgrimage in the region. The terrace of the mountain inn provides you with a view of all Amberg and the surrounding areas. See Amberg from the water. A boat ride on the Vils River offers a leisurely sail past the town's green horticultural showgrounds.

  • ACTIVE AMBERG

Hiking and cycling are a great way to explore this area. Well-developed cycling paths and hiking trails lead to the most beautiful destinations. Action & fun: Dune surfing, sandboarding or mountain biking on the Monte Kaolino, only ten minutes north of Amberg!
