A half-timbered dream
Limburg has one of the few town centres to survive the war intact. With its winding, cobbled streets and pretty half-timbered houses around the cathedral, the old town is both historically interesting and warmly inviting. For those looking to escape into the countryside, the Lahn river valley offers plenty of opportunities for day trips.

LIMBURG OLD TOWN
Along with the Hoher Dom, so named for its commanding position over the River Lahn, the highlight of the city is undoubtedly its magnificent and intricate half-timbered houses. Lovingly restored and enjoying listed status, they are one of the region's most visited attractions. Another destination worthy of a visit is the Pallottine Mission!
Limburg offers plenty of opportunities for eating well. Try the Weinhaus Schultes or the Werner-Senger-Haus for some traditional regional food and beer. The Bäckerei Kosmol bakery produces fruit bread and deep-fried pastries known as Muzenblätter according to traditional recipes.
Limburg from the waterside
A unique barbecue experience awaits you on the Lahn: the BBQ donut. With 5-10 people you float along the river and enjoy a wonderful BBQ. Comfortable seats are arranged around the low-smoking grill. Cool drinks and a delicious meal make the Lahn cruise an extraordinary experience. If you prefer to use muscle power instead of the electric motor, you can also explore the Lahn by canoe or pedal boat. There are also numerous hiking and cycling paths along the banks.
