Explore Limburg
A half-timbered dream

Limburg has one of the few town centres to survive the war intact. With its winding, cobbled streets and pretty half-timbered houses around the cathedral, the old town is both historically interesting and warmly inviting. For those looking to escape into the countryside, the Lahn river valley offers plenty of opportunities for day trips.

The exact location

Take a tour through the past. The picturesque old town, with its historic half-timbered houses, is just 3 minutes on foot from the hotel. Clued-up business travellers have long been aware that Limburg is a transport hub offering excellent connections. Why not leave your car at home and get to your meeting by train.

  • Limburgs oldest Café

From a delicious breakfast to a unique wedding cake.

The first mention of our house in the old town dates back to 1364. The history of the Will family business begins in 1880 with the purchase of the house by founder Josef Will, who opened a bakery and café.

Along with the Hoher Dom, so named for its commanding position over the River Lahn, the highlight of the city is undoubtedly its magnificent and intricate half-timbered houses. Lovingly restored and enjoying listed status, they are one of the region's most visited attractions. Another destination worthy of a visit is the Pallottine Mission!

Climb Burgberg hill to the imposing St. George's Cathedral, one of medieval Germany's most alluring sacred buildings. Also worth a visit is the stone Lahnbrücke bridge. Or take a tour of the town with the Limburg's very own nightwatchman.

Limburg offers plenty of opportunities for eating well. Try the Weinhaus Schultes or the Werner-Senger-Haus for some traditional regional food and beer. The Bäckerei Kosmol bakery produces fruit bread and deep-fried pastries known as Muzenblätter according to traditional recipes.

Located at the edge of the Westerwald and Taunus forests, Limburg is ideal for all kinds of sporting and leisure activities, from jogging and cycling to water sports and climbing.

There are many attractions to discover around Limburg, such as Schloss Weilburg and Schloss Oranienstein. Or take a boat trip on the River Lahn. Don't miss the historically significant Deutsches Eck headland, a small tongue of land where the Rhine and Mosel rivers meet.

  • Limburg from the waterside

A unique barbecue experience awaits you on the Lahn: the BBQ donut. With 5-10 people you float along the river and enjoy a wonderful BBQ. Comfortable seats are arranged around the low-smoking grill. Cool drinks and a delicious meal make the Lahn cruise an extraordinary experience. If you prefer to use muscle power instead of the electric motor, you can also explore the Lahn by canoe or pedal boat. There are also numerous hiking and cycling paths along the banks.
