    Suspended 12 metres above the ground, and an iconic part of the city's public transport network, the legendary Wuppertal Schwebebahn (overhead railway) carries around 85,000 passengers every day along 13 kilometres of track. All aboard! Tuffi the elephant is a popular souvenir, in the 50th he took the railway for promotion, but got a panic and fell into the river, without getting hurt.

By train

  • From Wuppertal main railway station (Hauptbahnhof):
    The Vienna House Easy Wuppertal is about 300 metres from the station, so the best way to proceed is on foot. From the station, simply follow Bahnhofstrasse westwards for about 250 metres. Then turn right onto Auf dem Johannisberg and you'll come to the hotel.

By air

  • From Dusseldorf airport:
    Take the S1 towards Duesseldorf Hauptbahnhof then take the S8 towards Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof. From the station, simply follow Bahnhofstrasse westwards for about 250 metres. Then turn right onto Auf dem Johannisberg and you'll come to the hotel.

  • From the south:
    Take the A3 to the Hilden junction, then take the A46 towards Wuppertal. Take the Sonnborn exit and follow Sonnborner Ufer via Friedrich-Ebert-Straße towards Elberfeld/Zentrum as far as Robert Daum Platz. At the crossroads turn right into Tannenbergstrasse. Take the major road coming off it and after the crossing turn left at the first traffic lights onto Auf dem Johannisberg.

  • From the north:
    Take the A1 to the Wuppertal Nord junction, then take the A46. At the Katernberg exit take the L427 (Briller Strasse) as far as Robert Daum Platz. Follow the road straight on over the crossing (Talsohle/Robert Daum Platz) and onto Tannenbergstrasse. Take the major road coming off it and after the crossing turn left at the first traffic lights onto Auf dem Johannisberg.

  • From the west:
    Take the A46 towards Wuppertal. Take the Sonnborn exit and follow Sonnborner Ufer via Friedrich-Ebert-Straße towards Elberfeld/Zentrum as far as Robert Daum Platz. At the crossroads turn right into Tannenbergstrasse. Take the major road coming off it and after the crossing turn left at the first traffic lights onto Auf dem Johannisberg.

  • From the east:

Tip: If you have satnav, enter your destination as Südstraße 20. This will take you to the entrance of the underground car park.

Parking

Enough parking / an underground car park can be found between Historische Stadthalle, the Vienna House Easy Wuppertal and the Schwimmoper. The name of the parking garage is “Stadthalle – Einfahrt von der Südstraße”. This is a public car park. Please take a ticket and follow the signs that say “Hotel”. The Vienna House Easy can be accessed directly from the garage.

The hotel has 200 parking spaces available: EUR 6.60/day.

Tip: The Historische Stadthalle car park offers the possibility to recharge your electric car. Wuppertaler Stadtwerke, the local utilities company, has installed several charging stations in the garage. These are available for drivers of electric cars. All WSW charging stations use green electricity.
